COACHING
Coaching is a collaboration between the coach and you - a person who wants to make changes. It allows and encourages you to shift your perspective, and as a result you can discover solutions to achieve your goals. This is a very powerful process that puts you in charge; both of your goals, and in finding creative solutions. The coach is not there to come up with answers or advise but to listen deeply and ask questions that might build awareness, empower choice and lead to change!
Coaching is present and future focussed. One of the powerful things about the process is that you are accountable to someone else; so if you set yourself a goal to do more exercise or not work after 6pm, the coach will work with you to monitor how you are doing and to celebrate when you reach a goal - and look a bit deeper at habits and beliefs when you don’t.
There are many reasons why you might want to explore coaching as a way of making changes in your life. It may be that you are experiencing changes that you feel you have no control over, such as redundancy, or losing your job; or physical or hormonal changes such as the menopause. Perhaps you feel that you want to make some positive changes, to be the best you can be – whether in your personal life, your career, or in your sporting achievements; or to unlock your creative potential, and create space for your passion project. Coaching can help you to transform your relationships – with your self, your partner, spouse, or children; it can help you achieve better outcomes in work or other settings, such as sports or performance.
It is advised to first book a free initial session with the coach of your choice, to see whether you are a good fit to work together. From here, you can decide whether to commit to a series of sesisons, and what you want the focus and outcomes of your sessions to be. Sessions are ususally weekly in the first instance, but your coach will work with you to find what works best for you; and you may want to spread out later sessions. This gives you time to try out different strategies and to reflect then on how it went and how it feels. Coaching is dynamic and forward moving and you will be amazed at the difference in just one or two sessions but committing to a block really helps cement that change!
